Loudoun County - it's an American story dating back 250 years. … And part of the 400-year history of Virginia and its first settlement of Jamestown, home port of the New World.

Whether you call Loudoun County home or are a newcomer to its story, we welcome you as we observe our 250th anniversary.

Discover - Celebrate - Experience

Loudoun County is a story about a king's prized land along the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Potomac River. … And about the diverse people who chose it for its beauty, opportunity, resources and proximity to key political and commercial centers.

It's a story about their patriotism, enlisting for the American Revolution, the Civil War… and their participation all along the timeline of a new nation.

It's a story about hometowns with grassroots friendliness that were destinations for history book legends like George Washington, James Monroe, John Mosby, Robert E. Lee, Westmoreland Davis, George C. Marshall, and John and Jackie Kennedy.

Come "Discover - Celebrate - Experience" with us. Throughout 2007 and 2008, Loudoun County, the county seat of Leesburg, and other of its historic towns and communities will re-live their stories through celebrations, historic re-enactments, tours, lectures, musical performances, parades, teas and lots of other sights and sounds. Please see our Event Calendar.

The official countywide celebration happens Saturday, May 19th. Streets surrounding the stately courthouse in historic downtown Leesburg will offer live demonstrations of early American life, music to dance to, exhibits of historic documents and photo opportunities with a colonial infantryman, a court clerk of yesteryear or even Virginia's Gov. Tim Kaine.
